We are proud to announce that our firm will be teaming up with the Salvation Army to support a family in need during the holiday season.

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” - Leo Buscaglia

At Richardson | Ober we embrace the holiday season not just as a time of celebration, faith, and time with friends and family, but also as an opportunity to give back. This time of year brings all of us together and reminds us of our many blessings.

R|O Collect Manager Elsy Dysim adds that “this time of year we need to pause and remember that we can make a difference in a family’s life.”

This year, the R|O team is working with the Salvation Army to sponsor a family for the holidays. Each year, the Salvation Army identifies families in need of assistance. The family is then matched with a sponsor. R|O has been matched with a young family of six including a 6-week-old boy.  The mother cares for her four children ranging from 6 weeks to 14 years, while her husband remains hospitalized with a heart condition. We are happy to hear his condition is improving.

The Salvation Army provides the sponsor with the family’s “wish list” including items of clothing, household items, food, and toys for young children.  Each R | O team member shares in the giving by donating items from the family’s wish list.  Finally, before Christmas, members of our firm share a special moment with the adopted family where we meet members of the family and present our gifts.

“The Salvation Army annual Adopt-a-Family campaign provides community members to make a significant difference in the life of a family that would not have much of a Christmas this year. Gifts go directly to a needy and very appreciative family,” explains Dave Brock, Salvation Army Advisory Board Chair.

Of course, proving an opportunity for firm members to be a part of something greater than themselves brings incredible meaning to the holidays.

R|O Team Member Isabel Plata shares, “adopting a family is extremely meaningful because our days are more fulfilling when we give people a piece of our hearts rather than a piece of our minds. We can begin to heal the world with an act of kindness.”

We invite anyone to share in this act of giving by messaging us prior to December 22, 2022. Email us at [email protected] for a list of items needed and coordinating receipt of your gift.

Happy Holidays from all of us at Richardson | Ober.
